Windows steam on mac using heroic version.
Updates aand downloads keep failing saying, corrupt donload/ content servers unavailable, some games have downloaded fine, others wont at all with network speed in kbps and disk at 0bps. for example im currently downloading steamworks common redistributables and it says estimated time >1 year.
is this a commoin issue or more related to the way im running it through heroic?

That feature is simply broken
Heroic maintainer/main dev refuses to remove that feature despite it is not working.

I honestly have never tried this feature myself so I can't say if this just fails for every single game or if it affects only a few games
like mentioned in the first message I understand some games can be downloaded fine, so the feature partially works (and maybe the number of games that work is enough to keep it? I honestly don't have any stats)
I'm in favor of removing it and just write a wiki page about it for people that really want to use this with GPTK, I don't have enough insights about how well or bad it works (we might have some bias here because we are in the support section where we'll see mostly complains about it not working)

Yes quite a few games will work, but from what I can tell it is mostly the larger ones, except for redistributables, not sure why.
For the record it is having the same issue on windows 8 steam.
And your steam function did used to work. And I could play steam version of rocket league on there etc.

Problem is advertising a feature that is known to be half working.
So every time it doesnt work, people will open issues about it.
Difference between game specific issues and this is, you can likely fix game specific ones but not this.

when installing steam with that button I think it does say that some things won't work because it's installing an older steam, maybe the messages can be better to make it clear what problems to expect?
