Noob AMD GPU questions with ally x

I recently purchased an Aoostar ag02 GPU dock and am researching which GPU to pick up.
I'm still on the fence which OS to use going forward as I love bazzite's couch friendly gaming mode.
As I understand it AMD GPUs will work on the bazzite stable (drivers included) but would I have to run the all ways script every time I disconnected or turned the device off?
This part is confusing me a little.
I was thinking of getting a 4070 super or more likely a 3080 Nvidia card for windows, but the more I have read seems to indicate I would not have much trouble using an AMD GPU on bazzite.
Any suggestions or recommendations on this would be massively appreciated so I don't buy the wrong GPU or have unrealistic expectations.
