ebay is absolutely derelict. I know you guys bring the sauce. What should I get "instead"? or are any of these solid? The thing that has me on the fence is the color. My heart wants a "lighter" shade like the cognac one, but I just know I'll do a lot more with a darker shade. These both look close to the standard Todd Snyder jacket, which is my reference for a "classic" italian suede jacket (at 3x the price).

Curious to know what y'all think. Planning on getting it in an M at 5'6 and a built back, to make it sit right on me while allowing minimal (sweater) layering underneath.

when you say ebay is derelict do you mean in terms of the junked up stuff that comes up when you search? or just that you dont want to buy secondhand
suede jackets are like a dime a dozen on ebay
That’s why I ask, at that price point what you find on eBay will be better than new
you absolutely can get one in a classic look for cheap
But I get that trying to search for jackets is rough, any kind of leather/suede jacket you get a ton of spam listings so you need to use filters
Derelict in the sense that I couldn't find much! Or at least at that price point it wasn't competitive. You're right though, no fancy filters or anything.
I'm also willing to go a bit higher on the budget if it'll allow me to get something "better", even if secondhand. Actually, finding a mad thrift like that would be awesome
If I look for an actual Todd snyder for example, I'm getting prices close to retail
also worth adding - do not search by alphabet sizing, ever really but especially here because sizing will be all over the place and letters dont mean anything
get measurements of what you have rn that fits and use those to compare. if second hand listings dont have measurements, ask the seller for them

depends on the suede jacket. there are no rules
shoulders, length, chest width are the big key ones, sleeves are helpful too
Yep always buy with measurements of the garment compared to something you have, also with jackets the size will be the chest measurement similar to with suits

True! About sizes: I wear a size 2 in this chart. This is from a chore coat that fits me a bit smaller on the shoulders than I'd like. Feel it tugging at my chest/back. Can't layer anything underneath comfortably but I can still wear it with thicker shirts. What does 38/40/42 correspond to?
38/40/42 is US jacket size. Commonly used for blazers and suit jackets but generally the sizing choice for any jackets, coats, etc. that aren't alpha sized (s,m,l). It roughly correlates with your chest measurement so if you're around a 38" chest, a size 38 is a close fit (depending on blah blah).
Instead of going off the size chart, I would measure the jacket you have directly. There's always going to be some variance at the factory and any washes/dries/wears can affect the garment as well
