Asus TUF Gaming x470 not POSTing with last bios release and 5800XT installed

So, as the title says, just isn't working. Roomie wanted to update computer before he has to buy a new one, but after I updated the BIOS to the last version released with the old 2700X, the 5800XT just isn't booting. I've tried everything so far.

does the 2700X work still? if yes I would consider the CPU being faulty

It does. Got a B550 board that came in. I have heard that while supported, Ryzen 5000 does have issues on 400 series motherboards.

So you have two boards and two cpus? I would try all 4 combinations and see if the board or the cpu are faulty If X470 works with the 2700X, and the B550 works with the 5800XT, it will be a compatibility thing yeah, and maybe you can try downgrading a bios, like to a less recent one but that still supports 5800XT, if there is a bios like that at all

I may have to chalk it up to something fucky with the TUF x470 Gaming board. The MSI MPG B550 Gaming has been working flawlessly so far with the 5800XT. Former roomie also said in the past, the computer randomly just shuts itself off or hard-locks.
