Which shorts work better here?

Which of these linen shorts works better here? Also, any thoughts on the length? I think both are 6.5" or 7", and I was debating whether to take around an inch off.

Hi @interpassivity! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

imo beige but to me black shorts other than baggies always feel a little goofy with ranger mocs or other ivy coded shoes length is fine imo, you could always cuff them if you want to go shorter

they're a lot closer to faded dark gray, iOS camera app just always crushes the shadows

short answer: heard, but does not really move the needle for me. it's a super casual fit though so there's no wrong answer if you like both pair long super pedantic answer: ivy fits tends to be heavy on earth tones (khaki, olive, navy) and the like and i don't think there's an intentional juxtaposition happening here to make the gray work better than the beige -to me-. (baggies are different because there's cultural context for wearing them) if you don't engage in that degree of thinking about clothes then follow your gut.

thanks for this, that's good to know even if I'm not necessarily going that deep I do have baggies but they are a salmon color that wouldn't work great here, and honestly I've never been a fan of the way the material feels. I definitely prefer cotton or linen
