Menus from system tray (left click) randomly stop appearing

Having an issue where the menus that should appear with a left click from my system tray, as well as the main application launcher menu, will randomly stop working. Restarting my session seems to fix it for a (short) while, but it crops back up usually within a few minutes. I can't access sound, bluetooth, network, etc. settings. The screenshot is when I try to access bluetooth from the tray. If I try to open the ^ menu to get to other entries, that line goes across the whole system tray.
