Invisible limbs?

I'm trying to make a mod first time for custom armor and I want to make it so the character's limbs are invisible. However, I was looking at the files and I'm pretty sure that just deleting the limbs/parts would make it so the default ones would show underneath. Is there any way to make it so that these are invisible instead? Thank you!
