Vintage YSL jacket quality?
Was looking at some older YSL jackets, they had nice patterns but I was wondering about the quality. Any ideas?

Hi @skipper! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
Depends how old it is. There was a period where YSL name was licensed out and most the menswear wasn't really made or designed by YSL and some of that stuff can be noticeably cheaply made.
That said if you like it and the price is decent then it might still be a good buy. Most stuff above absolute shit tier is generally "good enough" quality.
are they any designer brands and specific time periods to look out for if you want something well made? in terms of menswear
too many to possibly list
vintage polo?
depends on the year and potential diffusion line
a "polo ralph lauren" logo in blue and white (or green and white) is generally good, even moreso if there's a "Mr._" tag or any union tags (amalgamated garment workers association, actwu, unite).
can't really do much else without seeing individual jackets, though @RLGRAILS on Instagram knows a lot about vintage ralph lauren
Ahh I see thank you
Yup I checked his archive story has alot of info on tags
what about other brands in the same type of clothing that are good quality, I heard gant is a shout?
most of the heritage ivy brands- gant, brooks brothers, j.press, southwick, hart schaffner & marx
