Weird Razer BlackShark V2 Pro volume & OSD issues on Bazzite KDE
Hey guys, gals, and everything in between. I’m running into a strange issue with my Razer BlackShark V2 Pro on Bazzite (NVIDIA image, KDE Plasma, PipeWire).
1. On-Screen Display not showing:
- When I adjust the volume using the headset’s USB dongle knob, the volume does change, but the OSD doesn’t appear.
- I tried switching USB ports and even connecting via Bluetooth, but the OSD still doesn’t show.
- I’ve restarted plasmashell and plasma-pa, checked that the device is recognized as a USB audio device, and confirmed that PipeWire is running.
Previously, on another USB port, the OSD worked fine.
2. System volume slider mostly ineffective:
- The system volume slider only seems to adjust the output between ~0–10%. Anything above that doesn’t increase volume and is left entirely to the headset’s knob.
- This seems to be because the headset has its own internal amplifier, so the system’s software volume only controls a small portion of the output.
- I’ve tried checking ALSA mixers and PipeWire, but the slider still maxes out quickly.
Has anyone else experienced this with Razer USB headsets on Linux? Could this be a HID/input mapping issue, a KDE/Wayland quirk, or something specific to how PipeWire handles these devices? Any suggestions for restoring the OSD and making the system volume slider more useful would be greatly appreciated :))
