No games launching on Steam Deck

I downloaded the flatpak, made a gog account and bought a couple games. When I launch them ( GE-Proton-latest), it infinitely is stuck saying launching with no screens popping up (in both desktop and game mode). When I add the games to steam through Heroic, the Steam logo will at least pop up to show it's loading the game but nothing will happen, even after leaving it for hours. The kicker is if I add the game to steam manually as a nonsteam game it works right away(same Proton build), so the games themselves aren't having an issue. It's something to do with Heroic. What is going on here? Here is a log from trying to launch a game https://0x0.st/KSzC.log
Solution:
Disabling umu is not a good idea in the long run. Your log mentions network issues, so ideally try to get a stable connection and re-enable umu

using GE-proton-latest for me didn't actually download any new version of proton, https://discord.com/channels/812703221789097985/1426621850003181639 could you try manually download and set a recent version and see if that does it?

Giving this advice if the actual solution to the issue is clear is uninformed at best

Well, the solution to a network error would be to get a more stable connection Alternatively, retry the download a bunch of times (by re-running the game in desktop mode). Umu will save chunks it can get, so doing it enough times should lead to a working runtime

What does Umu do? Unfortunately I work in a country where I pay $140 for >2 Mbps of highly unstable wifi. I probably can't update for a couple of months.

umu more or less automatically ensures games have proper dependencies and overall helps them run via proton.

Umu serves two main purposes: - Running Proton in its intended runtime (this resolves most "Works on my machine" issues) - Running additional fixes if games need them (in the before times, you had to jump through hoops to get most games working; with umu most of them should just work) Without umu, we can't really help you with any future issues you might have, since we can never be sure it's not just some quirk of how your specific system/distro is setup
