Dealing with Freecam/Basefinder modules
Hey folks, I'm looking for ways to make freecaming/basefinder modules harder to use/less efficient on my survival paper 1.20.1 server.
I'm aware that the simplest and most rudimentary solution would be something like installing an ore obfuscator (aka antixray), but I also heard that pretty much all plugins of that sort have a seriously nasty effect on server performance. Are there any other ways to combat basefinding cheats? Are there any ore obfuscator plugins that are significantly better peformance-wise than others?

btw make sure to ping me if you do respond π
RayTraceAntiXray is a good anti-xray for specific blocks, but preventing freecam and things like that is not really feasible afaik. certainly not if performance is important to you.
I see; well for me, it's all about finding the right balance. I'd be willing to sacrifice a (preferably small) part of it for prevention of such things, but I don't want to go overboard. From what I heard there are ways (even if dubious and fixed by most clients) to catch freecam by sending some translation packets, do you know by chance what anticheats have that?
And i'll make sure to check out the plugin you mentioned β thanks for the recommendation
Although if it's only about specific blocks, it's not as useful since my main goal is to hamper base hunting modules, and not xray ones (there's other ways to get ores in the server)
You could try this plugin out to prevent freecam @cole https://builtbybit.com/resources/nemesis-anti-esp-security-and-more.60154/
It got anti freecam and anti xray
IMO freecam is a useful tool, as a builder/redstoner, itβs sometimes a butt saver to be able to just use freecam to go and inspect your builds
With that said, nemesis AC as suggested above hides rendering below a certain Y level. If you truly need a freecam-free experience, that is probably about as far as you can get. There are other methods to detect client mods by requesting translation keys, however I think that is patchable by the client (?)
ill look into it, thanks
No problem
i agree, it is useful, but in my server it'll unfortunately cause more harm than good since it's over more pvo-oriented
thanks for the recommendations, will look into it
I donβt see how freecam would affect pvp, if you pop your cam out for a second in close range, you are dead
will note nemesis perf is pretty awful
it affects base hunting
any particular issues with it you can share?
had a dupe, had/has a memory leak, poor perf
damn, thanks
that's speaking from both personal experience and talking to other server owners
any thoughts on Raytrace antixray?
It's good, the fork is better
which one?
there's two plugins named the same thing
imanity and stonar
Personally I'd recommend https://github.com/TauCu/RayTraceAntiXray (fork of stonar that doesn't use protocollib, 100% recommend).
It doesn't do what Imanity does (tiles, entities etc through their addons), but it's WAY more efficient. Imanity's plugin is really poorly optimized
