Distant Horizons Plugin roadmap / support for 1.21.9, 1.21.10
With the Distant Horizons Beta 2.3.5 & 2.3.6 adding support for Fabric and similar clients (and servers) on 1.21.9 and 1.21.10 I wanted to inquire if the similar update is planned to the plugin version, and what's the current overall stance towards support & version parody between the two? Looking at the plugin contribution history, it seems it hasn't been iterated on in a bit, but it also might not need much? I'm not knowledgeable enough to glean the answer from commits so decided to just ask.
If the recommendation to receive latest updates is to migrate the server to Fabric-compatible backend then it's also viable, just would be helpful to understand. I self-host a wee one for my pals and currently running Paper but DH in general and DHS has been such a massive boon that now we won't update to the 1.21.9+ with copper golems cause losing DH is just too gutting (client-side will stay, I do realise, but many rely on serverside still)

Just download the latest nightly. It should Just Work ™
If you prefer to stay on the 0.10.0 release for some reason, the .7 jar should also work on .8, .9, and .10
Oh ok, I checked the date on the nightly and it was smth like 11th of September so I assumed it didn't support 1.21.9+
Will go and check I guess
The plugin is not using any features newer than MC 1.16, so it's the same code in all the jars. And in fact, in mid/late July I changed it to only build a single universal jar.
The difference in the jar files was only the Minecraft version it was marked as supporting
But I guess I should make a new release simply to officially say that it supports those versions
Oh how interesting. My surface understanding is that the plugin simply provides the clients with an interface to request LODs, which is probably different from the Fabric-like servers, in which case it'd make sense.
Based on the download numbers off of Modinth it seems like very few people do use it anyways, so super up to you - but do appreciate you providing clarity in here ✨
You're kinda right, but the way it works for multiplayer is exactly the same wether you are on a Fabric server or on a Paper server. The client doesn't know the difference :)
It's been on Modrinth for only 2 months, and I haven't really advertised it anywhere outside of this Discord, so the low number of download is more or less expected
Makes sense, I'm blessed with neurospicy friends that pushed me to get the server plugin configured I guess.
Just for posterity: this did indeed work, amazing stuff as always.
