Error with EA App with the latest Steam Client update.
After the latest Steam client update I get this error when opening the EA app. The EA App itself is running as a non-steam game with Ge Proton 10-3. Clicking "OK" crashes the EA App. If I don't click OK, I can just focus on the EA App and run a game (NFS Unbound for example) and the game would run at 1-2 fps.
Currently on the 42.20251011: Stable build.
Reverting to 42.20251002 resolves the problem as it perhaps contains the older Steam Client build.
I have a SteamDeck with official SteamOS on it with the latest Steam Client and it does not have this issue (not sure if it's relevant).
Hardware:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
GPU: MSI Ventus X2 RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
Other launchers don't seem to be having this problem.

ypi should probably use Lutris
& not just add to Steam
the thing is that I've been able to just run my launchers directly from Steam for 3 years now with my SteamDeck. And it was all basically working until the last Steam update last week. The thing is that on the SteamDeck it has no issues. And I'm positive that it is the Steam client to blams on my Bazzite PC just wondered if anyone else has this and if could be worked around.
you really shouldn't have done this
it works till it doesn't
also the way Lutris works makes it easier to find all the files
again, reverting to my previous Bazzite build resolves it as long as I don't update the Steam client
in case you need to
I use launch options to force a specific folder for PFX files, etc. basically what Lutris does.
well yeah that's probably some of the stuff lutris does
probably not all of it
if the Steam client were the problem lutris would not be affected
seems to be fixed in the latest stable update 🙂
