External displays
Hey guys! first time using bazzite. I've been wanting to turn my old Predator helios 300 (3060 laptop gpu 6 gb vram, intel 11800H cpu, and 16 gb ram) into a gaming console for my tv. I have tried the official guide to connect an external monitor and it still refuses to use the TV as the main monitor. I've found this issue very annoying and I would love to have someone help and guide me through this. Thanks!

This is also my first time using linux in general

Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
im guessing its for gamemode as thats like a very common thing to ask
Yes it is the game mode
I did that command actually
Still the same result
Right now I'm trying to disable the IGPU to see if that helps
laptops with 2 gpus always are problematic with this since it depends on how its handled over the hdmi
Yeah the IGPU has always been annoying with this thing
yeah like on a desktop it works like this

super simple
on a laptop it might be like this

or this

Yeah I hate the fact it does that to be honest. I've upgraded to a desktop and im just trying to get some use out of the old laptop
might be that youre also required to run
export-gpuYeah I'll try that
I'll keep you updated
turning off the igpu would be the easiest though but keep in mind that gamemode does commonly get screen artifacts on nvidia
Yeah that's alright with me, I've had worse
just giving a heads up so you know what to expect from the nvidia driver
you got it! ill let you know issues I come across while I'm disabling the igpu
i might be asleep but np
A possible solution
After testing, it turns out my HDMI port is wired directly to the IGPU not the 3060. Thats why SteamOS gaming mode couldn't detect my external display
The Mini display port seems to be wired directly to the GPU. I'm going to order a mini dp to hdmi adapter and test. I will update here if it works.
