Need Help Restoring Encrypted Ente Photos After PostgreSQL Data Loss
Hi everyone,
I need help recovering my Ente Photos data. Here’s the situation:
I was running a self-hosted Ente setup.
I have all my MinIO data (encrypted photos).
I still have my encryption key.
Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted my PostgreSQL database.
I later upgraded to the latest Ente version and signed up again, but none of my old data shows up.
Since I have the encryption key and the MinIO data, is there any way to make Ente recognize or restore my photos?
I assume the metadata and mapping between users/files were in the database, but wondering if there’s any way to rebuild or reimport that?
Any guidance or tools for recovery would be deeply appreciated. 🙏
Thanks in advance!

@Staff @setal
Hey. Someone from the engineering team will respond to this. Having said that, all of us are on an extended weekend (Diwali in India), so you should definitely get a response on Tuesday. If someone does check Discord before that - they will respond
Ok thanks

I've not worked on the server side of Ente. I mostly work on the web side. Someone would get back to you by Tuesday!
alright, thanks
Unfortunately, recovery isn’t possible unless you are able to recover the Postgres data.
Oh no, even if i have the encryption key, still is not possible?

I see, it is really harder to recover postgresql data, i had deleted the volume accidentally and then later realized its the important part and now it got overriden with new volume , my bad i should have kept a plain backup of my data. 🙁
I'm still depressed about the data. Is there any manual way I can manually decrypt each and every file? If it's a painful way still I'm okay with it. @Neeraj
Please help me out.
