how do I enable game icons in gnome
just something that is annoying me, this is what they show up as instead (the blue square)

are you seeing this for every game you've tried? more details as to what games/how you're launching them/etc. will be helpful for troubleshooting
This is happening to a lot of my apps too, discord, steam and other appimages i download. So for both Flatpaks and appimages.
I just ran
flatpak install flathub org.freedesktop.Platform.Icontheme.Adwaita and that solved the issue at least for Discord for me.
