Setting maximum resolution for gaming on nvidia gnome bazzite.
Can I configure bazzite to have a maximum resolution for each monitor? The desktop environment is totally fine, but every game or application that uses Proton or WINE wants to set the resolution way higher than it should. Gamescope is a good workaround for some things, but not all. I've tried using xrandr commands, modifying the xorg.conf, and a couple other things. Nothing in nvidia-settings is helpful. Any help would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts.

No solution for this?
set the resolution in your game
That doesn't work. Some of them won't even offer the correct aspect ratio since it's not being correctly reported. One of them will not offer a correct resolution in fullscreen, and if it's windowed and set to the resolution of the monitor, it makes the window size about 1/3 of the screen. I'd really like to fix the problem and not treat a symptom. Wine config has microscopic windows because it thinks that my resolution is much higher. If it's not causing display issues, it'll cause games to run at high resolutions with very low FPS.
You can try to set wine virtual desktop
open winecfg from protontricks, if you are running your games through steam
the fun thing about that is it does the same thing that running in windowed mode does, it sets a window taking about 1/3 of my screen and runs inside that.
it thinks it has a 4k screen to work with, but I only have a 2k screen
try setting the dpi in winecfg?
That does work for some games.
default is 96, which should work if you are using 1x scaling
Again it's like treating a symptom though and has to be done per game. I'm looking for a real fix.
If you are using fractional scaling, you'd need to use a newer wine/proton version
So there's no way to just configure the nvidia drivers or Wayland to max out at a certain resolution?
afaik Kwin should communicate the maximum display resolution
don't even bother with trying to configure it in the nvidia drivers or xrandr, those don't work here
Try a proton version >10.15 with ProtonPlus
afaik display scaling fix is somewhere near that time
Is there a way to configure kwin? I've been using the newest verisons of proton for everything but I'll make sure they're above that.
kscreen-doctor
tbh I suspect an Nvidia issue
is that for KDE only?
yes
