settings.json invalid?
Hi,
Updated to the latest Node-Red (embedded in SignalK).
Do not think that this is related but mention it anyway.
Upon restart I can see in syslog that the startup cannot read settings.json:
Oct 29 08:11:05 dronten systemd[1]: Stopped signalk.service.
Oct 29 08:11:05 dronten systemd[1]: Started signalk.service.
Oct 29 08:11:07 dronten signalk-server[1878]: Error reading settings file /home/tore/.signalk/settings.json, using empty settings
Oct 29 08:11:08 dronten signalk-server[1878]: signalk-notification-player:Error: please install festival package
Oct 29 08:11:08 dronten signalk-server[1878]: signalk-server running at 0.0.0.0:[object Object]
Oct 29 08:11:08 dronten signalk-server[1878]: 29 Oct 08:11:08 - [info]
Oct 29 08:11:08 dronten signalk-server[1878]: Welcome to Node-RED
No users, no connections no https.....
Analyzing the settings.json I found this at the end...
"courseApi": {
"apiOnly": false
}
},
"courseApi": {
"apiOnly": false
}
The ending bracket before the "extra courseApi entry is the normal end of the file...
See screenshot from Notepad++
Removing those extra lines fixed the problem and now operating normal.
For sure I have not edited the settings.json to create this, but somehow it has been tanpered with.
Have I been hacked 🙂
Or does anyone have any other idea?

Could you try to paste your entire settings.json file here? The snipped you posted does look suspicious.
Here is the entire file...

It's incomplete. The most important part is missing.
Nevermind. Discord is terrible apparently.
Yeay, Just removing this last bit:
That should do the trick
(Don't forget that comma)
Thanks, that is exactly what I did, I'm just curious since I have a hard time beleiveing I by mistake edited a file which I did not really know what and where it was until this happened.
So fishing for similar experiences and knowledge about what happened, not really for a fix.
