This is caused by blending between vanilla and DH You can disable it entirely, or change it to single pass Single pass will get rid of the ring, but the blending won't work under water James tried to get rid of it, but failed It is and probably will always be a DH limitation

Single pass will get rid of the ring, but the blending won't work under water
The blending will work for all things that are not behind a translucent So it will work most of the time, except under water, behind water, behind coloured glass, and similar

Double pass looks best, that’s why it is the default It isn’t noticeable with shaders as the water surface is much busier and noisier That’s just one of DH’s quirks
