Balena Etcher on Bazzite fails + windows programs?
Hi,
I am really liking Bazzite and I want to put it on more of my PCs. But now that windows is off my computer I can't use Rufus like I did on windows. I've tried 4 different USB sticks and formated them too. I have also tried re downloading the iso twice and the program etcher. I have found I can download the zip and double clock to run the program. I get to the point where I enter my password and a few seconds after that I the the message something went wrong.
Can I run Rufus on Bazzite Linux?
In general I'm hungry to learn more about how I can run the other free programs I used to use on windows but on Bazzite.
Can I use MusicBee on Linux? I miss that program so much. I have a large collection of mp3's from my CD collection. I have tried 5 or 6 different music programs from the Bazzar.
All and any help is welcome! Thank you so much.

Use Fedora Media writer or ventoy for making bazzite usb
How do I install or use those programs? I looked for ventoy on the bazzar and couldn't find it. Thank you for the response and help
Use fedora media writer, it's installable through bazaar
You can also use disks that is available on the app menu
also, using ventoy is discouraged when creating a bazzite installation disk
or at least that was the documentation have said (no support for ventoy)
Okay I will try those fedora writer and disks.
Is there a suggestion for a book or website I can go to, to learn Linux and just how it works compared to windows?
Or is there a kind of universal way for me to install and use windows programs on Linux?
I am amazed and so happy for steam working well and I am able to play my video games with Bazzite. Having a lot of fun and so happy that's working. Like the music app program called "music bee" I really want to work again.
Thank you everyone for your help. I'd like to keep this open until I can confirm I get the USB boot thing working.
I just recently this past weekend used my aunts laptop had win 10 and did Rufus and that worked great and got Bazzite on her laptop too. I wanted her to be safe with Linux.
the best way is to start using the OS and simply using it :)
i highly recommend this because sometimes when you specifically "learn" linux you don't have a realistic goal to achieve, whereas if you are using the OS normally, you can have a clearer goal. for the time being, you can start with the bazzite docs: https://docs.bazzite.gg. this might be a page of interest for you right now https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/
my personal recommendation is to try to find linux-alternatives to windows-only software. you can check out bazaar, it has a lot of apps available for download - plus there is also a curated list of apps you can explore. in cases you do need a specific windows-only app, you can use tools like lutris for example to install it. i know lutris is primarily for games, but it also works with normal windows software and whatnot.
Thank you! I will have to research how to use Lutris as well. I agree. It is my main daily driver now. I used to use Ubuntu in 09 for about a few years. I felt I could do more with it but I had a 50/50 chance of what I wanted to do not working.
I like the simple use of Bazzite and the Bazzar but if it doesn't have a program the Internet says to try, I'm not sure I can install it via the terminal. Keep in mind, I don't know how to do that either without the Internet telling me what to copy and paste into it.
And! I want to say I like libre office a lot. It's so great!!! Using the tunner program now to listen to Internet radio 📻 while working for work.
Thank you!
I'll have to try those other prgs for USB sticks. I'm running out of windows machines hahaha with each on I add to Bazzite.
Oh!!!! An old game called Empire Earth.... I have the disks for it and I used to play it. It would be so cool if I could somehow get that to work on Linux it was my dad's favorite PC game.
Lots to learn! I will respond back if I can get one of those other USB prgs working for me.
I find troubleshooting kinda hard for Bazzite.
Oh is there a snippet tool for Bazzite!?!? That seems like I'm going to need that hahaha. I use that all the time on windows for work.
Again thank you All! Sorry about the rambling post and responses
No worries. I personally use Gradia because I am on Gnome but if you are on KDE you might want to use Spectacle instead. Flameshot is also available on Bazaar. Either way, you are free to ask for help with questions like these on the #🎮bazzite channel since they are simpler and more generic
