Deleting from device doesn't free up space
System: Redmi Note 9S curtana, MIUI 14, Android 14

What the title says, after deleting a whole lot of images, they dissapeared from my local gallery app, but didn't free up any space. When deleting the images a popup asked me to send the images to bin (looked like a system managed popup, tried searching for a trash folder to no avail)
