Would like some help figuring out a third layer for work

My work outfits feel incomplete. I think I need a third layer. Probably a sport coat? Here are two of my more common winter work outfits. I'd like a piece that goes with both, but I don't know how reasonable that is given the palettes are quite different (blue/Grey vs brown/beige) Any ideas on what color and texture to target? Would like to keep it at or under $300. Thanks

Hi @bobman37! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

blue/grey and brown/beige are basically functionally identical in this context. You've only really ruled out a grey jacket and a brown jacket which leaves just about every other neutral earth tone or pattern that occurs in mens tailoring. I would get a navy hopsack sportcoat, or a tan cord sportcoat, or an olive sportcoat, or a houndstooth/gunclub/patterned sportcoat. You could do wool, or cotton. you could also get a couple of wool sweaters.

no jeans, but that's about it your specificity is very helpful!! interesting that both schemes are similar, I have such a hard time picturing how colors go together like I want to wear more green, so a green layer would be sick, but I can't imagine what shade of green works best with both outfits so olive is helpful to mention! I actually have a couple cardigans I picked up in the spring, including a green one, but it's sort of a lime or mint green and I wasn't a fan of how it matched like I'm not sure how to style it I guess also, is cord short for corduroy?

Personally I wear an olive cotton blazer/sport coat/chore jacket to the office quite a lot. Could see that working for you. An example : https://www.marrkt.com/products/cotton-linen-unconstructed-blazer

Looks like a decent find. Tweed is kinda ideal for this scenario.
