Is it normal to have the screen on (but not updating) after turning the left side off?

Is it normal to have the Nice!View screen on (but not updating) after turning the left side off? It shows the last thing when it was ON, and it doesn't get all blank when it's off. It doesn't update and the left side is off, so keyboard doesn't work. When turning on, the screen updates and works regularly. Right side is working as intended though.

Short answer: yes, that’s normal. nice!view is a memory-in-pixel display, so when the left half is switched off it retains the last frame without power. It won’t update until the board is turned back on, and it doesn’t drain the battery while the power switch is off. The behavior you’re seeing (frozen last image when off, resumes updating when on) is expected and harmless. If you prefer the screen to go blank when powering down or after idle, that’s doable with a small firmware tweak in ZMK (e.g., clearing the display on certain events). If you want, reply or tag me and I can point you to the right place in your config or help set it up.

How to pair right side with left side? Left side is working and paired with computer, but leftside is not paired (Nice!View has an X at the top right of the screen) ?

The X on nice!view means the right (peripheral) half isn’t connected to the left (central). Only the left pairs to your computer; the right pairs to the left. Try this: - Make sure both halves are powered on (switch up) and have charge. Confirm the left is connected to your computer. - Press the reset buttons on both halves at the same time. Wait ~10–30 seconds for them to find each other. - If the X stays, clear the split bond on both halves, then reset both again. Steps here: Split Halves Won’t Connect and ZMK details: ZMK Troubleshooting. - Verify firmware: both halves must be on the same build, and each side must have the correct file (Left vs Right; with/without nice!view). See your kit’s Firmware page (Corne: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/firmware, Lily58: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/lily58-wireless/firmware). Notes: - Don’t try to pair your computer to the right half; it won’t connect to hosts. - If you flashed the wrong side’s UF2 or mixed “with/without nice!view” files, the halves won’t connect—reflash the correct ones. If you’re still stuck, reply/tag me with which board you have and which UF2s you flashed (left/right, view/no-view), and I’ll help you sort it.
