constant freezes in android app

I get constant freezes and hangs in the Android app. I thought this was due to the background sync process being heavy (I had to sync 10,000 photos, which all synced mostly w/o issue, sorta kinda), but it's persisted after the initial sync: right now I just switched away to a different app and switched back to Immich, started scrolling through the Photos view, and it froze. The freezes were especially bad when I was in the last ~300 photos syncing, but now that they're persisting semi-randomly, I'm not sure what to do. Is there any way to debug the mobile app? I'd like to get logs or something so that when the freezes occur (I have not triggered them reliably, but they're frequent) I can have something more useful than "the app freezes lol". Thx for advice

Can you disable backups and see if the app still freeze?

i'll try that and report back immediate test for the stuff that somewhat consistently freezes it (scrolling through pictures, switching apps) seems to not occur with backups disabled. but i'll keep using it and see if i get any freezes yup, only appears to be an issue when backups are enabled. does this suggest anything @shenlong-tanwen?

it seems like if we are queuing more than a couple of hundread items for upload, some Android device will crash. If you don't mind I can send you a work in progress APK that circumvent the issue for testing

hm, i don't think i'm affected by this -- when i was doing the initial sync the typical queue number was around ~300 and what's really weird is that these freezes happen when there's nothing left to sync. are there any debug builds i could run that'd pipe stuff to a log?

we log most things normally, there is no need for a debug built to be logged. Can you post the mobile app logs please? And what is your phone model?

i'm on a pixel 4a, so a fairly older phone. it may be an issue of performance oh! nice, i totally missed that there's built-in logging. okay, the next time i hit a freeze i'll grab logs from there after

I wonder if the thumbnail rendering is causing the issue
