Layering for leather.
Looking for layering ideas for my two MF jackets. Flannels, turtlenecks and hoodies have been my go-to's. The campus (tan) jacket is snug so light layers only like flannel thickness. I'm thinking maybe some RLP fair isle vests with a button down and a tie or even a bowtie. The ranch (black) works with heavy flannels and medium knits so is easier but I have a bee in my bonnet about getting a black or white aran knit that will fit under it. The casatlantic rollneck is too beefy. There's some black indigo RRL rollnecks floating around the proxies, hoarded by one guy looking for 3 bills and above but I feel like one would be a perfect layering piece for both. I'm happy to lean into the 30s styling for the jackets so old fashioned as shit is a-ok for me.
Specific recs for styles of button downs, flannels, turtlenecks, hoodies, v-necks, vests or whatever else that would pair with these two would be much appreciated. The campus has always been a little neglected and I want to put it back into AW circulation.
Side question: Would high waisted grey flannel trousers, like the cathcart trousers attached work with the campus?

Grey flannel with leather is classic go for it
I also think that a fisherman sweater would be sick, so would a roll neck
I’d suggest checking out the North Sea Submariner
Submariner looks like the perfect weight. I’d love that weight with some texture but that’s probably not doable.
It’s got a little more texture than pics indicate
How did you find sizing? I’m contemplating the sky blue for the campus.

Think the colours work
TTS with a slimmer fit
I love how you matched the colors of the orange jacket and denim overalls. I don't have answers to your questions, but I just wanted to tell you that I love your outfit. Out of curiosity, what did you use to tie your bandana?
Super obvious probably but I think chambray/denim work or western shirts are a solid option. Blue/indigo will go really well with the tan jacket
Other options for shirts I think something like an ll bean chamois shirt or something in moleskin could be a good flannel alternative in terms of material texture and weight
Chamois is a good shout. Nice and warm, should fit under the campus and you can get some nice solid colours.
Why is light blue calling to me.

I can see it looking good with tan and black
That shirt, grey flannel trousers and black leather :ohyes:

for whatever reason I thought of a red chamois (under) or rmfb vest (over) with the camper vest, in addition to what else was mentioned
far more speculative and a little "guy on the internet" but vintage wool cycling jerseys might also be interesting
Great suggestions all round zeo thanks. I’ve had an rmfb sized hole in my heart for years anyway.
Pretty good selection on the proxies. Olive feels solid and safe vs something like mint or a vivid red?

Burgundy might split the difference.
Alright, western yoke natural leather jacket underneath I’m going olive. Don’t need any more flair and risk not actually wearing it.
Feel free to mute this thread I’m going to keep musing in here.
burgundy > olive > mint imo
Tbh that’s what my heart says

Burgundy pops
Olive is drab unsurprisingly
Going to size up once might be snug but the 42 is too long
Ah, a French brand. Have you been there, or is it just an order? I'll try to check it out. Thank you very much!
I have the mint one so you should get the burgundy one because olive is uggo
(I had the olive one for a minute but sold it pretty quickly)
saw this pullover from beams plus on ig, it's a mohair rugby more or less

can't use beams website in the us because they hate us but I imagine that would work for both jackets
I was looking at long sleeve wool polos for the needles suit. Hadn’t occurred for this application.
Cooked or raw?

It's cotton. I'm daydreaming about getting the cooked one and some kakishibu dye and overdyeing so the brown comes through where it's faded.
I like the faded one more
