Issues with multiple users uploading identical photos
Hi all, I've had immich deployed for myself for a while and it's worked amazing. I am very impresses by it. I decided to add another user into the mix and I had some issues. For the most part it works great, but every time when the 2nd user tries to upload a photo that I originally shared to them a while back (meaning it is also uploaded to my immich library initially) the 2nd user's uploads are stuck in their uploads directory, not moved according to the storage template, and the 2nd user gets the "error loading image" message in their timeline. This works the other way around as well.
The immich docs do say that the program should handle identical files as user's individual assets. I understand that immich has some deduplication methods, but I want to see if anyone else has encountered this and fixed it.
We share photos via text and we want to keep our phone storages separate with some sharing as well as our immich backups being separate with some sharing. I don't want to enable partner sharing.
Thanks for any guidance!

Successfully submitted, a tag has been added to inform contributors. :white_check_mark:It is not clear to me yet if you are sharing a single account or not?
No, we are not sharing a single account. The immich instance has 2 user one for myself (admin) and the other.
it appears there is only one subfolder in library/ and one subfolder in upload/. this is not consistent with having 2 users...
Oh interesting, i figured that the folder view would only have that specific user's assets available.
I don't think you can see other users in folder view? 😛
What is odd is that it shows both library and upload
Okay, the files are now migrated to their respective library templates, what's weird now is that is seems they have lost metadata and still doesn't show up in the time line...

I recreated this behavior, I (android device) shared a photo via text to another person (ios), immich ios app tries to upload and it does, but it still says error loading image.
I downloaded an asset from one account and uploaded it to another without issues.
are you sure the image hasn't been previously uploaded?
the attached log is pretty clear it's using the ownerId to match for uniqueness
