Cavendish Experiment IV

I wonder this because someone who thinks the Earth is a globe would say: “The pendulum with the leaden ball is the IV.” But that’s not what that is right?

You get your IV from the hypothesis which comes from the NATURAL observed phenomena(aka NOT SYNTHETIC), basically you see an effect occuring NATURALLY and then you ask yourself "what could be the cause(IV) of this effect(DV)" You'd need a natural cause, have you ever observed a pendulum with a leaden ball on it in nature???! I don't think so, the cavendish thing is not an experiment because it does not follow the scientific method correctly.

"Therefore, in experiments, a researcher MANIPULATES an INDEPENDENT VARIABLE to determine if it 'CAUSES' a change in the dependent variable." Office of Research Integrity

what is being manipulated in cavendish? Nothing What does the scientific hypothesis in cavendish state? Oh yeah, there is no scientific hypothesis 👍
