Immich2immich migration
Hello, i would like to ask you for your opinions on migrating media files from one immich server to another, let me explain:
I currently have an Immich instance in a docker container on my server, that i installed using CasaOS. I am now migrating everything to my new Proxmox ve server. The thing is, I don't want to transfer the whole instance (or db), I would like to start fresh with the instalation and accounts, as I had issuess with some features like clip model selection on the casaOS docker install.
My question is: how would you go about moving just media files (with metadata ofc) in a clean way. My first instinct was either rsync, or using immich-go to download the old library and the upload it to the new library.
Thank you in advance.

Actually scratch that, I don't think it can get the XMP files
Do you have multiple users @TEO ?
There is a folder for every user inside of
UPLOAD_LOCATION/upload and UPLOAD_LOCATION/library etcYes, i have 2 currently
Are you using storage templating?
I think i don't use templating... Is there a way to check that?
If no, everything for a given user will be inside of
UPLOAD_LOCATION/upload/UUID/
https://my.immich.app/admin/system-settings?isOpen=storage-templateOkay so it's turned off
So, do i just copy the insides of the current uuids to the new corresponding account uuids on the new server?
In that case I would make an API key per user on your new instance and use recursive upload on
UPLOAD_LOCATION/upload/UUID/ with the API key for that user
You can't rsync/copy paste themUsing the immich cli?
immich-go works a bit better 😛
Okay 😃
Just do a recursive upload (it's the default I believe) for each user seperately
and don't forget to switch API keys
This will upload images + modifications if present, but will not retain album data, favorites etc
Oh, well, i need albums to stay as they are. Is there any way to keep it?
You'd need to turn on storage templating
set a template that uses albums as folders
Run the migration
Then upload from
UPLOAD_LOCATION/library/UUID/ and use the album-from-folder option
if any image is in multiple albums it will only work for oneHow do i do this for more users please?
Oh nvm
Just noticed it created more folders in the library folder
