I'm not feeling this outfit, could a vest help?

I bought these IVY pants from beams plus, paired with a green flannel button down. Need to get the pants altered at the waist, maybe even see if the crotch area could be altered to get it more roomy, but anyways - I've been trying this shirt and pant combo and for some reason it doesn't look good to me, maybe the proportions are off... Maybe it's too simple.

I was wondering if a fair isle knit sweater vest could look good over this shirt

Thoughts?
