Bluetooth periodically cutting out and spamming last pressed key

Hi, i’ve had my corne for a bit now, but periodically the bluetooth connection will cut out and the last pressed key will be spammed. After a bit the keyboard will seem to reconnect and work normally again (until the problem occurs again). I am currently only using linux, but the problem also has occurred on windows. When this happens, the icon in the top right of the nice!view will turn into an X

Thanks for the detailed description. The X on the nice!view means the BLE link to your host dropped; when that happens the host keeps repeating the last key until it gets the key-up after reconnect. Try these steps: Quick checks - Charge both halves fully. Important: the power switch must be ON to charge. See Batteries: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/batteries - Test over USB: plug the left half in and type. If it never happens over USB, it’s a BLE-only issue. - Reduce interference: keep the left half close to the receiver, avoid metal between, try a USB BT dongle on an extension near the board. Improve BLE stability (firmware) - In your ZMK .conf, add: CONFIG_BT_CTLR_TX_PWR_PLUS_8=y CONFIG_BT_CTLR_PHY_2M=n These improve range and stability. Details: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/poor-range - Rebuild/flash both halves. If you want a quick test, flash our default Corne firmware: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/firmware Clean pairing - Clear the bond on the active profile from the keyboard (&bt BT_CLR), remove the keyboard from your OS Bluetooth list, then re-pair. Profiles/bonds explained here: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/keyboard-wont-pair Split link note - If you notice it only when pressing keys on the right half, also reset both halves together and follow: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/split-halves-wont-connect If it still happens, please reply/tag me with: - Does it happen on battery, USB, or both? - Approx distance to the receiver and any dongle used - Whether both halves are charged and firmware you’re on Happy to dig deeper!

Thanks for the details. The X on nice!view indicates the BLE link to the host dropped, so the host “holds” the last key until it sees key-up after reconnect. Since both OSes show it and you’re on our default firmware, try these in order: 1) Reflash with stronger/more robust BLE settings - Add these to your ZMK .conf, rebuild, and flash both halves: CONFIG_BT_CTLR_TX_PWR_PLUS_8=y CONFIG_BT_CTLR_PHY_2M=n - These improve range/stability in noisy environments. Docs: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/poor-range - If you need a quick baseline first, reflash the latest default from our firmware page: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/firmware 2) Clean bonds and re-pair - On the active profile, press &bt BT_CLR on the keyboard. - Remove the keyboard from your OS’s Bluetooth list. - Re-pair on that same profile. If you’ve used multiple profiles, cycle through and clear each one. Docs: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/keyboard-wont-pair 3) Refresh the split link - Press reset on both halves at the same time, then let them reconnect. If needed, follow: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/split-halves-wont-connect Notes - Charge with the power switches ON (just to be sure). Battery guide: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/batteries If the issue persists after steps 1–3, please reply/tag me with: - Rough frequency (e.g., every X minutes) - Whether it happens when typing on left, right, or both - Whether it ever happens while connected over USB Happy to help you dial this in.
