Left nice!view showing pixels while right works fine on no solder Lily58
Recently ordered wireless lily58 with nice!nano v2 , & nice!view, both with no solder spring headers. Once assembled, I noticed the left nice!view shows pixels while the right shows image. I already flashed firmware multiple times, reset the firmware and it still doesn't work. I also can't get the halves to connect to each other. The left side has a blue blinking light if that's helpful. What else can I do to fix this?

Thanks for all the detail — two things are going on here: the halves aren’t linking, and the left nice!view is only showing random pixels. Let’s isolate and fix both.
1) Firmware sanity check (very common cause)
- Make sure each side has the correct UF2:
- LEFT half: Lily58 left – nice!view
- RIGHT half: Lily58 right – nice!view
- Reflash by double‑tapping reset to get the NICENANO drive, then drag the UF2. See: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/lily58-wireless/firmware
Note: If the left was flashed with the right file or a non‑view file, you’ll get garbled display and the halves won’t pair.
2) Reseat the left nice!view (no-solder headers)
- Pull the left nice!view out. Make sure the spring headers are fully pressed into the PCB (plastic flush and straight).
- Firmly push the nice!view back in; test while powered.
- Swap the displays between halves:
- If the “pixels only” follows the display, the display is bad.
- If it stays on the left PCB, it’s contact/firmware on the left.
3) Get the halves talking
- Turn both halves on and reset both at the same time. If still no link:
- Clear bonds on both halves, then reconnect:
- On each half, use the BT_CLR key (cycle through profiles 0–4 and clear each), and “forget” the keyboard in your host OS. Then reset both halves again.
- Pair the LEFT to your host; the RIGHT should link to the LEFT after a few seconds.
- Guides:
- Split halves won’t connect: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/split-halves-wont-connect
- Pairing overview and profiles: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/keyboard-wont-pair
Tip: Blue blinking on the left means it’s advertising (normal until paired). Charge both sides with the power switch ON.
If after the swap test the pixel issue follows the display, email hello@typeractive.xyz and we’ll sort a replacement. Otherwise, reply/tag me here with photos of the left header area and we’ll keep troubleshooting.

@TyperAI I was able to get the left side working and connecting to my computer by swapping the nice!nano & the spring headers from boards. But now the right side doesn't work. I suspect the nice!nano is faulty since I even tried to swap only the nice!nano to the left side and it stopped working.
Nice debugging so far! Based on what you described, there are two likely causes: the moved nice!nano has the wrong “side” firmware on it, or that nice!nano is faulty. Let’s confirm which.
Do this with the suspected nice!nano:
1) Reflash for the side you put it on
- When you move a nano between halves, you must flash the matching side UF2.
- Left UF2 (with nice!view)
- Right UF2 (with nice!view)
Links: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/lily58-wireless/firmware
2) Bootloader/flash sanity check
- Plug the suspected nano in by USB only (battery not required).
- Double‑tap reset. Do you get the NICENANO drive? If not, try another cable/port/device, or double‑tap by shorting RST↔GND with tweezers. Steps: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/entering-bootloader
- Copy the correct UF2. Does it complete and reboot?
3) Seat and test on the board
- With no‑solder spring headers: ensure the headers’ plastic is fully flush to the PCB and the nice!nano is face down, pressed in evenly. Try the “known good” set of spring headers.
- Power on, tap reset, then reset both halves at the same time to let them link. If needed, clear bonds and re‑pair the LEFT to your host: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/split-halves-wont-connect
Interpretation:
- If the suspected nano prevents the left from working even after flashing the left UF2, and the other nano works fine on either side, the suspected nano is likely bad.
- If flashing the correct side UF2 makes it work on that side, it wasn’t hardware—just firmware side mismatch.
If it points to a faulty nice!nano, email hello@typeractive.xyz with your order number, the tests you tried, and what the bootloader/flash did (video/photo helps). I can also keep troubleshooting—reply/tag me here and I’ll jump back in.

@TyperAI I've emailed with this information.
Got it, thanks for emailing! Based on your swap tests, it does sound like that nice!nano may be bad. Support will follow up via hello@typeractive.xyz with next steps.
While you wait, a couple quick confirmations that can rule out a side/flash issue:
- Reflash the suspected nice!nano with the correct side UF2 for nice!view (Left or Right): https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/lily58-wireless/firmware
- Enter bootloader: double‑tap reset. If NICENANO doesn’t appear, try a different USB cable/port/device, or short RST↔GND to double‑tap: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/entering-bootloader
- Test on USB only (battery unplugged). If it can’t flash or boot reliably here, that strongly points to a bad nano.
- Reseat on the known‑good spring headers, nice!nano face down, no pins in B+/B-, pressed in evenly.
- Make sure the power switch is ON when charging (common gotcha).
If the suspected nano still kills the left after flashing the left UF2, that’s strong evidence it’s faulty—your email was the right move.
