Uploading Photos to Albums Feels Unnecessarily Complicated
Hey everyone,
I've noticed that in Immich you can’t upload photos directly into albums. You first have to upload them to “My Photos” and then move them into the album. This extra step makes sharing a bit cumbersome, especially when you just want to add something quickly.
Is there a reason for this workflow, or any plans to allow direct album uploads in the future?
Thanks!

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close command, and re-open it later if needed. You can upload directly into albums, at least on the web. Did you mean mobile?
The app don’t let you target an album during the upload. You have to upload first and move the photos afterward.
Yep, that functionality doesn't exist yet
End goal has always been feature parity between web and app
I will say in general immich is designed to work like Google Photos where it has a photo stream available to it. We don’t really design for the “share to > upload” experience
In Google Photos, other users can upload photos to shared albums.
When you share an album, other users who have the link or access to the album have permission to add their own photos by default. You can change this permission by disabling the Contributors option in the album settings😉
We support shared albums with permission for people to add photos to them
Even if it's not a top priority, that's okay. Immich is still super cool even without this feature👍
