Is it just the free version of Supabase that is slow?

I'm developing an app, and locally it's instant. however, when previewing to my client, its quite slow. Simply loading data from a table with no more than 10 rows, can take up to 5 seconds. Is it just the free version that is slow?

Would hosting supabase myself, give me the same speeds, as I am getting locally, on quite a specced out server?

A table load from the REST API will have latency from the caller to the Supabase instance. Usually 70 to 200msec depending on where you are at. If from a browser this is doubled because of the Options request.
Query from a small table itself would be less than 1msec.

Your network latency I assume would be similar for self-hosted.

I just did 20 rows in 140msec (all latency to the server) from Texas to US-east-1.

The query was less than 1msec in the DB. You can see query time in the query report (clear it if you can't find the query).

Where is the 5 seconds being measured?
Have you checked the API Gateway logs?

Is it just the free version of Supabase that is slow?
