My full system specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti

Motherboard: ASUS B650

RAM: 32GB DDR5, EXPO disabled during testing

NVMe #1: Lexar NM620 256GB

NVMe #2: Kingston SNV351000G 1TB

BIOS Version: 3035

Boot mode: UEFI

Secure Boot: Other OS (disabled)

CSM: Disabled

USB Ports used: Rear USB 2.0 ports only

USB Devices tested:

Generic 16GB USB 2.0

Brand new 32GB USB 3.0

Both flashed multiple times

How I flashed the USB:

Tried all of the following:

✔ Rufus (DD mode) on Windows
✔ BalenaEtcher (verification OK) on macOS
✔ Fedora Media Writer (macOS)
✔ Verified SHA256 checksum manually
✔ Booted from rear USB 2.0 ports only

Things I already tried based on docs + community advice:
BIOS:

✔ CSM disabled
✔ Secure Boot = Other OS
✔ Fast Boot disabled
✔ XHCI Hand-off enabled
✔ USB Single Port Control = all enabled
✔ SATA/NVMe controller in AHCI mode
✔ Disabled EXPO/XMP
✔ Disabled AMD IOMMU (AMD-Vi)
✔ Above 4G decoding enabled
✔ Resize BAR enabled
✔ Tried setting AMI Native NVMe driver → Disabled

Hardware tests:

✔ Tried removing the Lexar NM620 NVMe (heard Linux has issues with this model)
✔ Tried with only the Kingston NVMe installed
✔ Tested RAM individually
✔ Tried different USB sticks
✔ Tried different ISOs
✔ Tried different kernels (Bazzite 41 vs 43)

Boot attempts:

✔ Booted from “UEFI: USB Partition 1(when available)
✔ Tried overriding boot priority
✔ Tried both USB 2.0 rear ports
✔ Tried front ports (same result)

simply want to install Bazzite onto the 256GB Lexar OR the Kingston NVMe (either drive is fine).
But the installer never reaches the GUI — it fails at the root mount step.
