Cant launch/open steam

Hi I just downloaded heroic following a yt tut but even tho it shows steam as downloaded i cant open it. when i press "play" it says its launching and then "stop playin" for like a few seconds (as if im already online but it doesnt even open) and then back to "play" button. dont really know what im doing wrong. im on m4 pro chip 24gb ram
