Immich randomly hits a wall; then works great after a restart...
Been using Immich for a few weeks, running v2.2.0 using Docker compose on an N100 w 8GB RAM, 750GB SSD running Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS. No issues until lately. I recently scaled up from about 4k photos to about 10k plus a few hundred videos. A few days later I started having intermittent performance issues. I'm not certain the issue is due to the number of images, that is just one of the most recent changes I had made.
Immich runs extremely well when I start it up and for an hour or more afterwards. Very snappy. But suddenly it hits a wall and is completely unusable with thumbnals showing as grey and a spinning 'thinking' indicator. At that point I can't access it via the web UI locally nor across teh LAN, nor via the mobile app. Other Firefox tabs on the same machine, such as the Portainer tab, also hang. The rest of the apps on this machine work perfectly fine.
When this happens System Monitor indicates resources are stable and not hit hard. 20% CPU usage, Memory at 48% of 8GB, Low disk and Network.
Any suggestions how to troubleshoot this issue? The Immich compose file had 128MB allocated for the database. I bumped that to 256MB which did not help.
I had recently added Home Assistant and MQTT containers, but turned those off and continue to see the issue. When it does hangs up, I simply restart Immich using the Compose restart command from the terminal and it is immediately back to its snappy performance...

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close command, and re-open it later if needed. This sounds like memory issue
System memory is now at 65% and steady. Now wondering if it might be Cloudflare related....
Restarted my remote browser and it accessed the web gui fine....
same issue here
Clause says it is a caching issue with the browser remembering a Cloudflare fault.

Has it been happening over the last 24 hours?
Feels longer but time is a blur. I will track if it continues
Strangely though, restarting the container was the solution probably half dozen times. Immich would load half the thumbnails then hang and spin. I'll monitor more.
Thanks
are you using CF at all?
docker logs.txt contains only Redis logs. Could you post immich-server logs as well?Pulled logs from the 4 Immich containers
At this point Immich no longer loads the web gui no matter if I restart it. I installed Chrome as a greenfield test since I've never used it on this system, and Immich will not load there either, so it does not seem to be browser related.
I am uncertain, but it seems like the Android app is connecting to the server. I took a picture and shortly after, the small cloud icon on the image seems to show that it was uploaded to the server.
Screenshots of the System monitor showing a process consuming 100% of one (of 4) cores along with a ton of memory. This is new, it was not doing this yesterday.

Did you upgrade yet as per the announcement @rihack ?
I can't get in as admin to upgrade. Was not sure it was wise either in the face of issues.
i guess I can refresh the container.... my bad
Well currently the issue is that if you open the web version it will just get stuck
So just rebuild the compose stack and bring it back up?
yep

Upgraded to v2.3.1
Web UI is working. CPU and Memory are back where they were. I'll continue to monitor for the other breaking behavior.
