Inspiration help: how would you describe this style?

A lot of my current style inspiration is drawn from this particular band, and I want to look for more inspiration from a similar vein. As I understand it so far, it seems to be a mix of 30s workwear and 70s rock fashion?

Hi @hexaflux! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

Also as a bonus, what could I search to find more outfit inspiration like this?

2012-2016 SLP under Hedi Slimane, but also his time at Dior Homme from 2000-2007 and Celine from 2018-2024. Tons of other stuff, but Hedi really did that "rockstar" look that captured the zeitgeist from the late aughts on.

Agree with Iral here, and his visvim/kapital thing is probably useful too - John Mayer as a prime example of it for good and ill.

Oh crap, I wasn't aware John Mayer got so drippy? I have been considering incorporating a kimono shirt into my wardrobe for a while, hmm...

Mayer does it fairly badly for the most part imo but there's a lot of photos of him around to look at and see. Also consider carefully wearing kimonos, noragis etc if you are a white person.

Yeah good point, there's certainly better than his styling I am Asian descent, but I'm not sure Kimono shirts will go well with jeans or blazers, boots and the alike

It's doable. The problem is a lot of people think they can spice up a boring fit with a kimono and it just looks terrible. I'd definitely try as much on as stuff as you can, so you can separate clothes that are cool from clothes that are cool that also suit me. In this thread you've shown interest in techwear, Western, SLP, Japanese punk, and Japanese Americana. It'd be helpful to try stuff on to figure out which directions you want to go

Well a lot of what I'm interested in has no local retailers, so I have to buy online Is it valid to try and return that much?

Yeah probably not haha. I would just buy things slowly. If you see something you're into, wait a couple weeks before buying. Not everything will be a hit, but eventually you'll narrow it down
