Here are the main battery-care tips for nice!nano builds (Corne/Lily58 Wireless):
Charging
- The side’s power switch must be ON for the battery to charge. If it’s off, the nice!nano won’t charge at all.
- A 110 mAh battery takes about 2 hours to fully charge per half. - It’s normal if the reported battery percentage never shows exactly 100%. ZMK just estimates from voltage—anything around 80%+ is fine. Daily use - Turn the keyboard off with the side switch when: - Your computer/phone is off or far away (otherwise it keeps advertising and drains faster). - You’re transporting it (held keys while in a bag use more power). - Avoid pairing to lots of devices at once; maintaining many BLE connections increases drain. Expected battery life (110 mAh) - Left (central) half: roughly ~1 week per charge.
- Right (peripheral) half: roughly ~1 month per charge.
If you’re getting much less, there might be a short or configuration issue. More details:

If you want more specific advice (e.g., your exact runtimes or setup), reply here or tag me and I can help you tune it.

Installing the batteries is a simple but particular step. This guide will go over the positioning and installation of them.

can I keep the charging plug connected or this will damage the battery?
Short answer: it probably won’t immediately damage anything, but it’s better not to leave it plugged in all the time.
From our docs we only state:
- Battery charges in about 2 hours per side.
- Power switch must be ON to charge.
They don’t say it’s safe to use as a “permanently plugged-in” board, so best practice:
What I recommend
- Charge, then unplug once you’re done using it or after a couple hours.
- It’s fine to leave it plugged in for a working session or overnight sometimes.
- Avoid keeping it at 100% on USB 24/7; LiPo cells generally last longer when they’re not held fully topped off all the time.
If you’re seeing something odd while charging (getting very hot, swelling, or very short runtimes), stop using that battery and let me know details by replying here or tagging me so I see it.
