Dress Pants Recommendations?
Style: Flat-Front
Fabric: Wool or Wool Blend (only in cases of better durability, not cheaper blends)
Season/Weight: All Season or Winter (not Summer)
Rise: Mid or High
Fit: Slim (not Skinny)
Color: Navy or Dark Gray
Location: Chicago
Seems the variety of dressier and/or smarter clothing that is of just medium quality are absolutely falling off a cliff. Was already bad five years ago, which was worse than five years before. But now it seems the difference between 2020-2025 and 2015-2020 is significantly worse. Rapid decline of the market. Normally I have trouble finding any clothes/shoes that fit, but I am having trouble finding good dress pants in any size that are not $500+ each. Who sells them now? I want to try them on in-store, not interested in online-ordering-only.

Hi @StrategicTurtle! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
What is your budget
Low as possible while still being of good quality materials, good fit, and not visibly looking cheapish to anyone that are not classical menswear enthusiasts. These are only temporary until I get new ones a couple years from now if these ones no longer fit by then.
a number would be really helpful, low but still quality could mean $200 to one person and $40 to another
How much money are you willing to spend on a pair of pants.
Bro it is not this serious just drop a number
Nobody wants to pitch pants at you just to see you say "too high"
Come on, that is just a cop out for answering the question (and i see it all the time online now).
Eventually you reach a point where the amount of money you're putting into the item is bringing in exponentially less return in quality. I'm sure there are four figure pants you can buy, but excluding the brands selling those purely as an "price exclusive" item where there isn't any greater quality, even the actual good brands are what, at most 5% better (if even that) quality than ones you can buy for three figures?
And then the same thing happens for tiers within three figures. Are you telling me that a $40 pair of pants can offer good materis and fit while not looking cheap?
I'm not giving you an answer.
Lmfao
I've never judged a person for saying "i can only afford to spend $20 on pants" but I judge mfers like you every single time
Uniqlo is good enough for your needs and will last decades if you look after them.
Likewise lol.
no im not wasting my time finding pants to have you say "too much"
this is a waste of both of our time, if you give budget people can work with that
Like literally, the point of diminishing returns on quality is basically at the floor in 2025 and nearly everything beyond that is subjectively in the eye of the beholder.
Or just buy second hand Ralph Lauren on eBay. (Meme answer).
Bro you are the one asking for advice here wtf. Why write a soliloquy about why you won't name a price when you could just... Name a price point
also i have $40 pants that rule and $800 that are just as cool, so yes $40 pants can be good
i have some very nice wool pants that i bought secondhand for forty dollars as well as a matter of fact
like my by far most worn pair of pants
$1
aight
i've seen enough
be serious or leave
good luck getting advice Mr Turtle.
