Just finished in the lab today. I swapped the laser lens so we have a bigger bed. We’re able to get ~jlc tolerances but i think we should make it easier for ourselves and go slightly above, eg 0.25mm trace width instead of 0.15mm. Also the interconnect pin pitch is 1mm, which makes the pads <0.5mm which is a bit beyond my soldering level. So we need a less dense interconnect chip

@shibo @Anas discussed with some people and it seems we definitely need to be able to cut soldermask

This is much different than abalating copper because you have to "fill" rather than "outline" the pads.

I want to be able to cut out a polyimide sheet (shown below) and place it over the copper to form the solder mask layer This means instead of cutting out copper, we'd cut out the soldermask. Th...
you'd need to use different commands to cut the new material correct?
I think its the same commands, just you have to “fill” the pad with cuts

Just like “Cut Copper”, needs to be a separate layer
Also MAYBE its available with seperate commands
I think it is actually do you were right shibo i think

@Seve can you make a video showing us how you work with the laser? it would help a lot
when you're cutting soldermask that would be it's own different process and would require a separate .lbrn file than the copper one?
and you'd use a flag to create the soldermask .lbrn file
great question and yes apologies for the confusion and hasty reviews (US holiday so have been on cell)
BOTH scenarios should be possible using
include* flags. Sometimes i want an lbrn with ONLY solder mask, sometimes I want ONLY copper, most of the time I want BOTH. When you generate LBRN files in RunFrame, it opens a dialog that allows you to configure it
i also noticed that lbrnts doesn't generate a good SVG (or filled SVG? Preview cuts?) for the rects filled with cuts, we should fix this!
