Train Speed Limits - Everywhere or Just Where Specified?
I'm considering installing the train speed limits mod but already have 75 mods installed. Does anyone know if this is one, global setting or can you select areas of track and limit the train's speed there while the others remain at the default?
I know I can just install and try it, but hoping someone else can just fill me in based on their experience with the mod.

If this isn't the mod you were looking for, try a different spelling.
oh, wow, that modpage is... quiet
It was just released
I am guessing Goose pushed that before going to sleep

Yeah, I really should add a description lol
The train speed limits work pretty much like signals;
Once a train passes the speed limit sign, it maintains the speed on the sign. If it passes an "unlimited" sign, it behaves like vanilla
It also can be uninstalled without affecting the save
Thanks for clarifying. So, it seems pretty important that if I'm placing a speed limit sign before a station, for example, that I also need to place an unlimited at the end of the zone or the train will forever after only travel that fast, correct? Other trains that don't go past the speed limit sign will continue to run at vanilla speed.
A save I've been playing for hundreds of hours just crashed after playing a while and placing some Train Speed Limit signs. Here's the dump:
FWIW, I also have Dynamic Train Routing installed. Adding this info since that must mess with train fundamentals and could be a factor.
Ryan (the creator of DynamicTrainRoutes) is actually working on this with me.
This mod also shouldn't affect train AI, at least not in a way that would conflict with DynamicTrainRoutes
Yes.
If a train passes a speed limit, that train be limited at that speed until it passes another sign with a different limit.
Since the crash, I've placed only a few signs to let it setting in for a bit.
So far, so good, but I only have 4 signs.
Your log is getting spammed with
Making it quite difficult to read properly
Hmmm. That's Aquila's AniViRus's mod for recharging drone batteries.
Your log is half a million lines, most of them that
Yikes. I should bring that up to Aquila because while "no inventory" may be true for some, I don't see why it should be filling logs with that.
It's not something the player is warned about.
I'm going to post the same crash log, but point out the drone charger stuff to him in another discord post here.
Yeah, that's probably a good idea
Actually, not Aquila. AniViRus, btw.
I'll let you make the report, as it's your bug
Well, not your bug, but yk what I mean
I get it. No problem.
Already written in another tab.
Are you able to filter at all? Otherwise, I'll just keep working and if AniViRus updates their mod and I get another crash I'll reach out then.
This is kinda like a needle in a haystack situation, out of literally 400.000 lines only a few are gonna be relevant (if any)
Is there any reason putting a 30kph speed limit, then later a 10kph on the same track would cause any issues? That is, slow then slow some more?
Not that I can think of
OK, just checking, because I had done that and also there were some tight, complex tracks where I had several signs in close proximity.
The log does have something for the crash, but that looks like a very generic crash, nothing specific to train speed limits at least
My save is huge, probably over 1000 hours, and far past the vanilla uuobject limit at this point.
In close proximity in what way?
Side to side, or directly after another
Well, that's probably part of the reason you crashed tbh...
Let's see if I can show a pic.
At least looking at the log
Like the crash is specifically this:

This is the area where I had put some signs on adjacent tracks just before it dumped.

Hold up, lemme quickly show you how the speed limit works
That box is attached to the sign, and when the train passes through that box, and is going the correct direction, the limit is applied

I get it. Hitbox, I presume, so not sure where I had them they would intercept each other.
The box should be the width of a track
And even if they overlap it's just whichever the train thinks it hit second
Makes sense. Let me play with it some more. I may backup this save, remove the drone charger mod, and try speed limits again where I had them before.
If it's related to this mod, you'll have clearer info, and if not, obvs not your problem. I may be getting close to breaking a camel's back one straw at a time, too.
I mean if you're past the default uobject limit, you're in danger territory
Yes. Hey, I gotta afk for a bit. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I find anything more.
BTW, loving the first person stuff for vehicles.
Thank you :)
