MangoHud performance overlay is not functioning

I didn't change anything, yet when I boot today...MangoHud is not showing up - i can toggle the performance overlay on, but it doesn't do anything.
Sometimes, when I exit to desktop first and go back into gaming mode...it works! Most of the time it doesn't. Decky is installed, but I tried uninstalling it. Nothing else weird is installed.
