Divinity Original Sin 2 crashes on menu loading

Tried: GE-Proton Latest; GE-Proton-8-26m Proton 9.0 (Beta); Turning off Esync and Fsync; turning off Steam Runtime; using game arguments to turn off the launcher.
Behaviour: game launches, then crashes when the bar reaches give or take 2/5 of the bar, it's been crashing consistently at that point.
