Portainer install questions

Hey! I am trying to install Immich on my NAS using Portainer and following the guide at https://docs.immich.app/install/portainer/.

I have two questions:
1. When replacing
.env
.env
with
stack.env
stack.env
does it mean that I have to literally write
stack.env
stack.env
, or should "stack" be replaced by the actual name of my stack? (in my case "immich")
2. About those two lines:
Change DB_DATA_LOCATION to a folder (absolute path) where the database will be saved to disk.
Change UPLOAD_LOCATION to a folder (absolute path) where media (uploaded and generated) will be stored.

2.a. I already have pictures in a folder on my NAS. Should I use a different folder for Immich ? If I chose my current photo folder as a upload location, will my current library be reset or messed up with? If not, then does it mean Immich will detect the photos present in that folder? And in the future if I upload photos there manually will they be detected by Immich? I guess the gist of my question is: can I use an existing folder, and will I be able to use said folder normally outside Immich without creating issues?
2.b. Does it matter where I put the database? What is best practise?

Thanks for anyone who helps! I am very much a rookie with Portainer and stuff and it's my first time using Immich as well.
