Configuring IME Input for Japanese Text?

Hi,
I'm new to Linux and Bazzite, and am trying it out possibly to replace Windows as my primary OS for personal use. I need to configure IME input for Japanese. I tried enabling it through the System Settings tool, but when that didn't work I tried to look for different solutions configuring fcitx and mozc.
Now, I have some level of input working, but I'm still confused about what worked since I tried configuring it in several places. But it only works in Discord? Not even in KWrite or the terminal. I also do not get a window showing my options when using the IME, the words just cycle through, but I don't know what list I'm picking from.
I'd like to understand better how I'm supposed to configure this input and where I would set the shortcut keys for switching the different modes and keyboards. Ideally, I'd have something like this:
Switch Keyboard (EN/JP): Win+Space
Switch Input Type (Hiragana, Katakana, etc): Ctrl+Space
Change Selected Text: F7 (Katakana) F6 (Hiragana)
