display port not working

This is my first time ever on linux and im kinda getting overwhelmed. i had a lot of trouble getting the install to get past a black screen untill i changed to a vga to hdmi cable of all things. i want to get back to my displayport cable but genuinely have no idea what im doing, any help yould be appreciated. thank you.

these are my basic pc specs:
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 5 3500X
Gpu: GTX 1060 6GB
Ram: 32GB

Really basic but are you sure you're connecting the DisplayPort cable to your GTX 1060 and not the motherboard?

@CaramelCorn which is the appropriate nvidia build for Pascal? I actually couldn't even boot on bazzite-nvidia on my RTX 5090. I needed bazzite-nvidia-open

because if it's 1080p or 1440p, HDMI should work at 4:4:4 so you can just use that
