Advice on migration from Nextcloud + Piwigo to Immich
Hi,
I have a rather messy photo set up that comes from having accumulated digital images over the past ~25 years, ranging from some custom HTML to the original menalto Gallery (and then G2 and G3...) to Google Photos to Piwigo to Nextcloud's auto-upload viewed with the Memories app. Long story short, I have a bunch of themed albums in one path (and recursive with subdirs), some Google Takeout stuff, and Nextcloud uploads in YYYY/MM folders. I also have multiple users on nextcloud, all of whom upload via the Android client (each to separate paths, of course).
I want to move to Immich, but I know it may take some time to get everyone moved over and I want to be confident that nothing is lost.
If an image is found in an external library and then gets uploaded by the Immich mobile app, will it be handled correctly? I'm trying to figure out what the best way to handle the switch over is, both in terms of existing files already uploaded that still exist locally as well as new files that are added afterwards, until I'm confident that Immich is a satisfactory replacement for NC (not that I doubt it, but...
).
I think I've read through everything related to external libraries and uploads, but I'm not 100% sure I'm confident. Feedback welcome
