GoG update stuck, Heroic memory usage climbing constantly until I force-quit

Heroic is getting stuck trying to update a game from GoG (the particular game in question is "Unreal Lust Theory", if it matters). The download instantly jumps to 12.0% done, but then stops, and never gets any further. In the meantime, Heroic's memory usage just grows and grows and grows until I force-stop it; it made it up to about 112 GB memory used the first time I noticed the problem! If I stop the download and select "no" when asked to "KEEP downloaded files?", it then immediately starts the download again and immediately jumps to 12.0% done. Something is wrong here....
Edit: just tried stopping the download again, and this time (about the 4th time overall), it did not immediately start again. However, manually starting the download again, it again immediately jumped to 12.01% done and got stuck.
