Black Screen during BIOS POST when rebooting

I recently installed bazzite, and for some reason when the bazzite drive is selected as the primary boot disk, the normal BIOS post screen with the motherboard logo doesn't appear, and the F11 boot menu doesn't display, but is clearly active since i can select other devices with the keyboard from memory, and it proceeds to boot from them when I press enter. If I hit 'DEL' to enter the bios, the bios will appear after a bit, but until then the screen is totally blank.
Any idea what's going on here?
I'm on an AMD 9800X3D/ASUS X870 Tomahawk wifi with a 40 series NVidia GPU if that makes any difference, and the BIOS/MB firmware is fully updated.
