Bazzite RE remakes not running
Hey everyone! I’m having trouble with the Resident Evil remakes 2/4 on Bazzite and could use some help.
I’m running:
OS: Bazzite (GNOME)
GPU: RTX 5060 (8GB VRAM)
CPU: Ryzen 5 8400F
RAM: 32GB DDR5
Proton: (I’ve tried Proton Experimental + Proton-GE, And a ton of proton DB digging, recommended from there)
Drivers: Latest NVIDIA from Bazzite Portal
In Resident Evil 4 Remake, the game only reports about half of my VRAM as usable instead of the full 8GB. I know my hardware can handle this fine on Windows, so I’m trying to figure out what I might be missing on Linux/Bazzite. and splash screens and first cutsene trigger dip 5-6 fps (even on low presets etc with optimizations no matter what)
So my questions are:
Why is RE4 Remake only seeing ~half my GPU VRAM under Proton/Bazzite?
Is this a known issue with RE Engine games on Linux?
what is best to get it running, is this a DLSS not being there issue or ? not sure how this game is built and how to reflect what it needs to run as i know my system can run this fine on windows pre switching to bazzite?
hardware aside is this just a linux wall?
